Contemporary Art Commission
The United Churches of Olympia is commissioning a work of art that demonstrates our congregation’s values as a place where Spirituality and Justice meet. We are interested in a contemporary, 2-dimensional work reflecting that we are an inclusive spiritual community that welcomes all people.

The selected work will be displayed in the entryway of the church. Selection of the artist will be based on responses to the Proposal Application which includes the artist's qualifications. Please read the Guidelines for specific instructions on how to apply.

Renovations
Wonderful things are afoot here at The United Churches. Work on our major renovation has begun! It will be a busy summer of 2025 as we install a new, efficient, heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (yes air conditioning!); solar panels to provide electricity for the building; electrical system upgrades; and an elevator that will make the lower level of our church easily accessible to all who worship and visit here.

Congregational support through the 2024 United at the Corner Capital Campaign has made all of this possible. Our church community has pledged generously and joyfully. Proceeds from the Union Avenue and Washington Street parking lot sale, grant funding for the solar panels, and endowment contributions were also part of the total funds for this major renovation. At this time we find that construction costs increased over the last year before we “broke ground,” and we still need to raise $92,500 to complete the financing of this $2,100,000 undertaking.

Once work is completed in late 2025, we will experience the fruits of our labor of love—and leave a legacy for those who come after us, just as past generations brought us forward. These are indeed chaotic times, which makes strengthening our ability to live out our Christ-centered mission even more vital.

We welcome and appreciate all contributions, regardless of the amount. To contribute, please contact David Anderson, Treasurer, via the church office or click on the QR code to fill out our Google form.
