Our church has a long history in Olympia. In 2016, we celebrate the centennial of our Federation. Our two congregations joined as one Federation on December 6, 1916. Before then, The First Presbyterian Church, organized by Dr. George F. Whitworth, on November 12, 1854. The First Congregational Church was organized on April 26, 1873. The Presbyterians (Presbyterian Church (USA)) have been in Olympia for 162 years and the Congregationalists (United Church of Christ) for 143 years! The churches have been housed in several buildings in downtown Olympia during their long histories.  To showcase the building locations and placement, Brian Hovis and Deb Ross created this story map.

Throughout 2016, we will celebrate our combined history through stories, songs, historical displays, dinners, a concert and more. One Sunday a month is designated as our history day when we will enjoy these activities together. We hope you will join in the celebration! Sunday celebrations are outlined in a beautiful centennial bookmark that you can find during worship services. Our centennial unveiling was on Jan. 10. Other dates are: Feb. 14, March 13, April 17, May 1, June 26, July 17, August 14, September 18, October 23, November 13 and December 4.
