HELP STRENGTHEN FAMILIES
|
|
Strengthening Families is a program for parents
and youth (ages 10-14), sponsored jointly by TUCO and
Together! The program
helps build stronger family relationships in the pre-teen and early teen
years. TUCO has been offering this program to our community for the past
two years as a part of our ministry and outreach. Another session is
planned for fall.
|
|
We hope to build up a cadre of trained
facilitators in TUCO who will be able to facilitate one 7-week session
per year. Training sessions will be held in late August and early
September. If you think you might be a good facilitator, please contact
Beth and Gib Rossing at 943-9055 or by e-mail

Strengthening Families is a Best Practices, Evidence Based
program offered at TUCO for our families and our community. This
program involves members of our church, and families from the
community in a variety of ways. This is a church wide opportunity,
sponsored by TUCO and Together. The Strengthening Families program
uses group facilitators to work with parents/caregivers and youth.
The program started two years ago, and has seen three successful
sessions. |
|
This program is open to any families
with children ages 10 through 14, including our own church families,
and others that might find the program beneficial.
|
|
Dinner is included one night a week,
with a two hour program following. Youth and parents meet separately for
one hour, and then together for one hours. This is a rich and dynamic
program. |
| The Strengthening Families Program has made
a difference in these families lives by encouraging positive family
communication, participation as a family in fun activities, and
constructive problem solving. Your support had been appreciated! |
|
This program is an outgrowth of our
Facing the
Future Forum, a process of discernment
to see a vision for our future.
|
| Our winter 2007 Strengthening Families
program was very successful, with 9 families participating. This is our
third session, supported by these three organizations. |
| We would like to thank all those who
contributed so generously to the weekly meals which bring families,
facilitators and child care staff together before the presentations.
These meals are an important aspect of the program, allowing families to
arrive promptly and get to know each other, and exchange information
informally before the program begins.
|
| We would like to train more facilitators for
our parents and youth. The ideal group leader as a strong presentation
and facilitation skills, and needs to attend a training to become
prepared to facilitate the group sessions. DVDs and discussions are the
basis for the program. know if you are interested. |
