Emergency Overflow Shelter. Thanks and Additional Help.
Many thanks to those of you who have caringly volunteered to serve as overnight hosts for our church’s turn with the Emergency Overflow Shelter for our homeless guests, beginning on February 17 and continuing (with the participation of the Community for Interfaith Celebration) through the night of March 1.
The Emergency Overflow Shelter, sponsored by Interfaith Ministries, will be at The United Churches for two weeks starting Friday, February 17. We provide shelter, a warm bed, restrooms and hosting assistance between the hours of 7:00 pm and 7:00 am, daily, from February 17 through March 1, in our downstairs classrooms and Social Hall.
For those of us otherwise wishing to assist in this outreach, we invite donation of “snacks” for our guests. Particularly welcome are contributions of fruit, crackers and cheese, energy bars, dry cereal, milk and other beverages (packaged fruit juices, soft drinks in liter containers).
To offer help and to coordinate your donations, please contact either Steve Robb (456-1944) or Lee Johnson (866-2972).

Our congregation provides 14 hosts, one male and one female each night for one week and we need more new hosts this year. Please consider hosting even if you don’t have any or much experience. If you are unsure, don’t worry–you can be paired with an experienced host and you will get plenty of assistance.
