April Pastor Seeking Update

The Pastor Seeking Committee has completed reviewing over 40 pastor profiles with some still coming in. We have selected about five candidates to take to the next step which is a telephone interview with the committee and review of a sermon from each candidate. The plan is to complete telephone screening interviews by the end of April. Then, we will invite the candidates we are interested in to come for an in person interview sometime in May. TUCO Supports Marriage Equality

The Church Council voted on April 12 to affirm the current Washington State law on marriage equality.  This law allows same-sex couples in civil unions or domestic partnerships to be legally married, and thereby entitled to the rights and responsibilities that the law previously allowed to married (heterosexual) couples only.

A congregational meeting will be held in the TUCO Sanctuary at 11:30 am on Sunday, April 22, immediately following the service.  The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for all who wish to ...

Camp Quixote on the move

On Saturday, April 21, our friends at Camp Quixote will “fold their tents” at their present location, First Christian Church and move to their next host, Westminster Presbyterian Church.  We are encouraged to aid in the move, particularly those of us who have pick ups or can transport some of the camp’s residents to their new location.

All that is needed is to come to First Christian Church at 9:00 am on Saturday morning.

Becoming a Justice-Seeking Congregation

Four members of TUCO (Mimi Arnett, Peter Cook, Cynthia Cook and Pat Sonnenstuhl) attended a recent, invigorating 1 1/2-day workshop in Tacoma on Becoming a Justice-Seeking Congregations which was hosted by the Pacific Northwest Conference of the Methodist Churches, but was open to all churches.

Lion, Governor Chris Gregoire spoke highly of The United Churches and the
work we do in the community, mentioning the Emergency Overflow Shelter,
Barb and Friends Thanksgiving dinners and other ways we support the community.
